- The directly traded Tunki Arabica organic coffee from the artisan Italina coffee roastery has a chocolaty, floral taste and a full body. Awarded the gold medal of the European Roaster Guild in 2016.
The Puno region is located in the very south of Peru. Here, right on the border with the coffee giant Brazil, Peru Tunki organic coffee is grown. The coffee roastery obtains this coffee from a cooperative of 180 small farmers who grow the full-bodied coffee in sustainable agriculture at an altitude of 1200-1400 m. Shade trees keep the blazing sun away from the sensitive coffee trees. In addition, the fertility of the soil is preserved. The ripe coffee fruits are harvested and processed exclusively by hand. This traditional way of working requires the coffee trees to be picked several times, but it improves the quality of the coffee beans. It is not without reason that this Arabica organic coffee regularly receives top marks on the “international coffee stage”. The Peru Tunki Bio Coffee received the "Best Peruvian Bio Coffee" award seven times from the Expo Café Peru. The Rainforest Alliance voted it second out of 51 types of coffee worldwide (Cupping for Quality 2012) and in 2011 it was voted the best organic coffee out of 45 types worldwide - everyone agrees: This organic coffee is one of the best coffees in the world and is the best Peruvian coffee .
Grain processing: wet. The Tunki coffee consists of 60% Caturry, 30% Bourbon, 8% Typica and 2% other varieties of the Arabica coffee bean. The directly traded Peru Tunki Bio Arabica coffee from the artisan coffee roastery has a full body is perfectly balanced. In addition, nuances of chocolate, nut and tobacco stand out and a flowery aroma perfectly rounds off its characteristics.
